What kind of microcontroller would i need for a door lock with a keypad input?
I am creating a door lock that will use a keypad of 1-9 and i need to know where i can get a good microcontroller with a usb.
A microcontroller by itself will not accomplish what you are needing. You will need to get a microcontroller that you can program via a USB or RS232 interface. The microcontroller will need to exist on a PC circuit card with an I/O BUSS and Opto Relay. The microcontroller should have a SDK with it that you can use to connect to the microcontroller.
An easier solution would be to buy a PLC. MicroLogix builds some nice PLCs and they already have optos and relays built in that you can control external items.
