Sake Bottle

Does anyone know anything about corkage fee?
Now, i understand that would be for wine, right? you actually take the cork out of the bottle.
but how about if they come in with a sake bottle? would you, as a server, apply the corkage fee again? what you do is just open the bottle that does not have a cork…or is it more about the principle? would you charge them for the sake bottle?..in a Jap restaurant??
I AM THE WAITER, I’M NOT SOME CHEAP CUSTOMER. i just didn’t know if I was supposed to charge if they brought in their sake.
seriously, why would you say I have attitude. Yes, I know, my manager was the one that told me to charge them. however, he even tells me to charge for things they never even got, so that;s why i was questioning that. English is not my forte and I didn’t understand the concept, that’s all. all i wanted was to be fair vis-a-vis the customer…
thanks
Lighten up, dude. Corkage fees refer to the beverage service provided when you bring any liquor into a restaurant. They charge it if you bring beer, too. It’s not literally for the cork. Restaurants pay extra for a license that allows you to bring a bottle in. I’m not a big fan of corkage fees myself but if you don’t like it, don’t bring a bottle.
UPDATE
WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE. And nice attitude about your customers, by the way.
Most places charge a standard fee for corkage. You should charge the same amount as you would for the corkage on a bottle of wine.
