Porcelain Incense
Would I want the ceramic dish on an oil burner to be thick or thin?
I’m making a porcelain incense burner but I can’t decide if the dish should be on the thin or thick side. Thin and the heat transfers better, but could it heat too quick and break? Thick and it’ll hold the heat well, but will it hold too much and not transfer it to the oil? Thanks for your opinions.
i recently bought one and its terrible! the base is thin and the dish is thin. the dish is lower than usually so the tealight fire actually touches the dish. after about 2 hours, the water is BOILING and the base heat scorched through my table covering an also left a burnt mark on my table. SMOKE is billowing out rather than the scent. luckily i was not asleep and managed to put out the fire as its was soo hot by removing the dish and extinguishing out the flames with my vase (cut off oxygen supply) coz i sprayed some water and it seems to strengthen the fire instead. the vendor is irresponsible saying you need to use smaller tealight, beewax type etc etc.. saying all burner will do that which is not true. so go for thicker and make sure your porcelain is treated and does not actually build up fire intensity. its truly a fire hazard.
